Heatic Hardware

Easy to integreate software to track people and connect your data.

Attentive technology
designed to
serve you.

Accurate

95+% accuracy, indoor coordinate accuracy at +/- 30 cm, surface temperature reading at +/- 0.5 C.

Private by design

Our GDPR-compliant Heatic sensors use body heat to detect presence. We go where cameras can’t go. PII not possible.

Wireless

Our magnetically mounted sensors run on a 2+ year battery life. No need for expensive cabling and complicated networking equipment on site.

Real-time

With an update rate up to 7 fps, Heatic sensors provide real-time information in addition to historical data.

Scalable

Installs in minutes. Each Heatic sensor can cover up to 200 square feet depending on ceiling height.

Extensible

Systems integrators and developers can use our open APIs to integrate Heatic data into third party applications.

Ambient

No wearables needed. Our line of sight based sensors operate in all lighting conditions save direct sunlight.

Continuous improvement

From AI learning energy-conserving patterns, to cloud updates with the latest features and upgrades, Heatic sensors are smart and getting smarter.

Heatic API

Our core API returns people count, occupancy, location and temperature data via JSON or REST.

Got Questions?

01_ What is your sensor's field of view and coverage area?
Red arrow

Our current sensor has a 60º field of view. The coverage area of each sensor depends on its mounting height; for example, at a mounting height of 3.1 meters / 10.2 ft , the coverage area is 3.6 x 3.6 meters / 11.8 ft x 11.8 ft.

02_ How accurate is your sensor?
Red arrow

The positional accuracy of our current sensor is at +/- 30 cm (1ft), Headcount accuracy 95+% *, surface temperature reading at +/- 0.5 C.

*measured at standard indoor environment at 10ft installation height.

03_ Can your sensor identify individuals with elevated body temperatures?
Red arrow

Our sensor can measure human body temperature at close range. However, when installed overhead for spatial monitoring, the accuracy of the body temperature fluctuates as the sensor does not point to body parts where the individual's thermal signal is the strongest.

04_ How many people can one sensor detect simultaneously?
Red arrow

Depending on the height and subsequent coverage, one single sensor can detect as many as six (6) distinct people standing simultaneously next to each other in a 5ft x 5ft square*. Since a Butlr Network can extend indefinitely in indoor spaces, the number of people the entire network can detect at the same time is equally indefinite and relative to the number of sensors a network consists of.

*measured at standard indoor environment at 10ft installation height.

05_ Can the sensors detect animals or pets?
Red arrow

Yes, this feature is expected in Q4 2021.

06_ If I install two sensors next to each other, will I show up two times in their overlapping space?
Red arrow

No - our algorithm is designed to work with multiple installation scenarios including overlapping sensor coverage. Simply put, our sensors automatically stitch up together to form a seamless heatmap for continuous trajectories.

07_ How are you different than a PIR sensor?
Red arrow

Passive Infrared Sensors (PIR) allow you to sense motion, almost always used to detect whether a human has moved in or out of the sensors range. The difference between our Heatic Sensor and a PIR sensor is that Heatic Sensor can detect all sorts of presence, and is not limited to people in motion. Our Heatic Sensors can successfully detect people sleeping, sitting and lying down and their location in the space— a PIR sensor cannot. Finally, the Heatic sensors perform significantly better in more complicated spatial scenarios with significantly higher accuracy than PIR technology.

01_ How many sensors can each Hive support?
Red arrow

Each Hive can support up to 12 sensors while maintaining real-time update rates.

02_ How many sensors can be connected in one system? Are there any limits, such as in terms of quantity of detected objects or area covered?
Red arrow

There are no limits when it comes to quantity of detected objects or covered area; a Butlr sensor network can extend indefinitely in indoor spaces, provided that we deploy the needed amount of Heatic sensors and Hives.

03_ How far away can a Heatic sensor be located from the Hive?
Red arrow

Heatic Hive and Sensors will form a mesh network when successfully connected. The network coverage will extend with more sensors added to the network. We recommend deploying the first sensor within 10 meters (35 feet) of the hive.  The new sensors added to the network should be 10 meters from any devices (sensors or hive) in the network.

01_ What is included in my Starter Kit?
Red arrow

Our starter kit price includes the sensors, software and support for 12 months from the time of receipt.

02_ How do I renew my Starter Kit subscription?
Red arrow

You will be invoiced or your card will automatically be charged $280 after the first 12 months for ongoing access to Butlr software and support.

03_ When my Starter Kit subscription is over, do I have to return the sensors and the Hive?
Red arrow

There is no need to return as the equipment is yours. If you have issues, however, email orders@butlr.io or contact your Butlr representative.

04_ How do I cancel my subscription?
Red arrow

Contact orders@butlr.io if you wish to cancel your annual subscription.

05_ What happens if I want to cancel my Starter Kit subscription before it ends?
Red arrow

Your kit purchase comes with an automatic 12 month subscription. We don’t offer refunds for subscriptions less than that at this time.

01_ What makes Butlr private by design? What information do you capture?
Red arrow

Our sensors capture only low-resolution, thermal data. This type of data is inherently non-identifying and non-sensitive. Our sensors do not capture Personally Identifiable Information like personal characteristics, retina scans, voice signatures, or facial geometry.

02_ What type and quantity of information is sent to a server?
Red arrow

There are two types of data traveling to our servers: raw sensor data and spatial data. The raw sensor data are low-resolution, thermal information; inherently non-identifying and non-sensitive. The second type, the spatial data, is the information the user provides through the setup app, e.g., location of furniture objects and names of rooms. The system has no way of scanning or acquiring this type of information via the sensors.

03_ For what duration is the data stored?
Red arrow

Active data (hot storage) are stored for up to three (3) months.

04_ What security practices do you have surrounding this data?
Red arrow

We have an extended policy securing both our time-series and static data, in transit and in storage. Should your legal or technical department wish to learn more about the technical specifications of our security practices, feel free to reach out to us at privacy@butlr.io
